Two Grannies in Cyber Space

When I was a young mother, with little money, I found all kinds of ways to entertain my kids. I wasn't driving them to ballet class or karate or tennis lessons. I couldn't afford to.

We made rocket ships out of cardboard boxes and Christmas tree ornaments from scraps of fabric and tin can tops. We made snow globes using jars and moth ball flakes.

Today, as a grandmother, I do many of these same projects with my grandchildren. They love coming to YaYa's house because they love having good old fashioned family fun. Today, if a family just eats together, it's touted as something special. It seems simple family time is a rarity.

Another Grandmother and my best friend Iris and I collaborated on a book some years ago. It grew and grew and got so large, it became impossible to publish. Iris is a published author. She wrote "Katie-Bo, An Adoption Story". I am a muralist and artist. We continue to come up with ideas for creative childrens' books. We sit at her kitchen table and we write and discuss illustrations. And...we laugh!

Recently, we came up with the idea of doing a blog and that led to us doing a web site. What a hoot! Two old grannies trying to figure out what URL meant. Luckily, we found a fabulously patient web design company. They love our work and have helped enormously to turn our project, party and recipe ideas into what is now granniesgaloshes. I know we try their patience and there must be hilarious laughter in their office when they finish my almost daily plea for help. But, we did it. We are in cyberspace. ( I actually believe we had a head start -getting to space I mean) And now, the things we did with our kids when we were young mothers are out there for all to see and do.

Our real love is still the book. We are looking for an agent now because we have so many creative books for kids to share. But, in the meantime, we are having a "blast" and have put together an "awesome" site. We can discuss the internet with our kids, now. We know that a URL is not a birth control device or some kind of a UFO. We are having a great time and we are so very "cool". LOL
